Create a Stylized Pop Art Effect
Begin by using Photoshop’s Channel Mixer to convert a color image to grayscale. Then, select the Magic Wand tool and click the background. This tool selects pixels based on their color similarities. After you enter a number of CMYK color values, you’ll use the Brush tool to paint the face and hands of the young woman with a solid color that contrasts the solid color that was used in the background. There, you’ve now transformed a photo into a pop art portrait.
Photoshop Fundamentals: Create a Wet Type Effect
Here’s a Photoshop effect that will surely spill over into a creative look for type. You’ll dip into Photoshop’s very capable Brush tool to create random paint spots. After a little Ripple distortion, you’ll use the handy Smudge tool and drag the type to smear it with a finger-painted look. Dabbing a smudge here and a splatter there, you can create designs with a realistic wet-ink look. This paint drip effect is gaining popularity and can turn drab type into an attention-grabber.
